It was the sort of wood that had been drying for 15 years, an unusual and relatively rare advantage. Koa's acoustic properties have a space somewhere between mahogany and rosewood. The obvious visual attraction that this gorgeous wood had for me was augmented by the fact that the supplier of this particular set of koa turned out to have been the builder of Božo Podunavac's shop work benches on which i made my first guitar in 1980. Go Figure.
